Did you know that the very first Father’s Day was celebrated on June, 19th 1910 in the state of Washington, and 58 years later, this special day became a nationwide holiday?
Today people all over the world honor and give thanks to their dads and father-figures, making it a moment in time where we can all appreciate the wonderful things that they do for us.
Which is why it’s the perfect time to shed even more light on this beautiful holiday, give dads all over the world the credit they deserve, and share my thoughts to those who are interested in or who are currently dating a single dad.
Single dads are amazing.
Single dads honor their commitments to their children, consider the impact of bringing someone new into their children’s lives and take their time getting to know someone. This sets the stage for deep meaningful conversations about life goals, relationship goals and discovering compatibilities and passions.
Children are a gift and not a burden. Being in a relationship with a dad, loving a dad is being in a relationship with his children and loving them as well. This gives you the opportunity to get super clear on what you want and need in your life and relationships. Do you envision a future with children? Do you want children of your own? How do you feel about being a step-parent?
If you are a single parent, you and your prospective partner will have a shared understanding that having a child or children requires time, attention, and care, and that the children come first. This is a perfect place to hone your skills to reach mutually satisfying agreements on such things as: How and when you will see each other. Respecting family time. How and when you both will meet the other’s children. Boundaries concerning sexual activity and more.
Dating a single dad can be unique in its rewards and challenges, it can also be the beginning of a beautifully blended family that is filled with love, respect, healthy boundaries, and fulfillment.
